Turkish DJ being tortured tries to comfort girlfriend

A well-known Turkish DJ who died in London after being “horrifically tortured” allegedly made a heroic effort to console his girlfriend as they were going through a terrifying ordeal, according to heartbreaking judicial allegations. Mehmet Koray Alpergin, 43, and Gozde Dalbudak, 34, were taken hostage by a group of six men on October 13, 2022, as they were leaving a posh Italian restaurant in Mayfair. They were then driven to a spot close to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The jury was told that they had been taken into a closed wine bar, where Dalbudak was kept in a dimly lit bathroom while Alpergin endured a terrible beating, including being scalded with hot water and being stabbed while on his feet.

Amazingly, despite the horrific treatment he received, Alpergin made an effort to comfort his girlfriend. According to Metro, Dalbudak could hear her partner’s voice comforting her with phrases like “My love, don’t be scared” and “Sorry, my love.” His efforts were thwarted when Alpergin, the proprietor of the Turkish radio station Bizim FM, became gripped with acute anguish and started yelling and shouting.

During the trial of six men in London who were accused of murder, kidnapping, false detention, and perverting the course of justice, the tragic final moments of Alpergin were methodically described. The DJ’s lifeless, naked body was dumped in the woods on October 15, 2022, and was later found there by a dog walker.

Dalbudak recalled that the attackers also physically assaulted her, striking her in the face and knocking her out. She was locked in the bathroom for more than two days before being finally let out. Notably, this was her first trip to the UK, and she had only been there for three days when this terrifying kidnapping occurred. As the prosecutor Crispin Aylett reportedly stated in court, “This had been her first, and no doubt last, visit to the UK.” Ms. Dalbudak left the UK on October 21, 2022, but she hasn’t come back since, despite keeping in touch with the London authorities.
